The time has flown by since the end of Oktoberfest season, and we are already revving the throttle towards next year’s festival. If you didn’t have the opportunity to make it out to this year’s festival, then you definitely missed out on a year to remember. This year we saw great music, food, beer, and vendors along with an amazing crowd every day. If you have always been on the fence about attending the annual Nashville Oktoberfest, we are prepared to give you some reasons why you need to experience this amazing tradition.

Obviously, we had to put this as the first reason you need to experience this great experience. Serving up authentic German beers is what Oktoberfest is all about. This past year we had some great selections from Paulaner and Hacker-Pschorr. Germany has some of the strictest brewing regulations only allowing water, barley, and hops in their Bavarian beers which only allows for a few German breweries. We served up two of these great breweries all festival, along with some great local selections.

What goes best with a beer? How about a bratwurst. The traditional German sausage was sold in various locations throughout Nashville Oktoberfest from some fantastic vendors. Of course, we had soft pretzels everywhere served with traditional sweet mustard and plenty of schnitzels. Not feeling the traditional German grub? We had a plethora of vendors serving up some of your favorite street foods as well.

The Parades

We have two fabulous parades that go on throughout the festival. One showcasing some fabulous floats made by the local businesses of Nashville’s Historic Germantown. Plenty of great people dressed in costumes right alongside the floats and “The Queen of Germantown”. Followed right behind this parade is a crowd favorite, The Pup Parade. Plenty of adorable dogs accompanied by their owners, typically in some phenomenal and creative costumes.

The Beer Slide

We host Beer Slide Competitions every day throughout the festival, and they are always a great time. This event pits two competitors against each other to race down our slippery slide with a full beer in hand. Whoever spills the least amount of beer when they get to the bottom wins. This event makes for a great some with some great laughs.

The Dachshund Derby

This event is probably the most exciting, competitive, and adorable event you will witness all festival long. The Dachshund Derby is exactly what it sounds like, multiple Dachshunds of different sizes racing for doggie glory.

Nashville Oktoberfest has gone on since 1980, and we don’t see it stopping anytime soon. Whether you are a native, coming down for a vacation, or just passing through during the festival, it is definitely something that you are going to want to experience. We look forward to seeing all the beautiful crowds at next year’s festival with steins full of cold beer.
