NASHVILLE, TN – German culture in a southern setting is the backdrop for the Nashville Oktoberfest, returning to historic Germantown for the 38th year…where festival goers eat, drink and celebrate their German heritage (or lack of it). A Tennessee tradition since 1980, the Oktoberfest is Nashville’s oldest festival and the Largest Fall Festival in the South!
“In anticipation of over 300,000 visitors to our free festival, we’ve expanded the Oktoberfest to 4 days. We’ll now be open Thursday through Sunday. By moving the location a few blocks to Jefferson Street and adding this extra day, we have more space for festival guests – and room for some exciting new areas. This year we’ll feature Germantown’s first Ferris Wheel, which will soar 65 feet over downtown…plus more than 40 restaurant and food vendors and approximately 150 merchants and vendors,” states Michael King, event producer and owner of Monell’s Restaurants in Nashville. “Of course one of the main staples at Oktoberfest is the beer, and we are celebrating over 500 years of Paulaner Brewery. Every Draft Beer Station serves multiple Paulaner brews – plus a special Oktoberfest beer imported directly from Munich, Germany. In addition to the Draft Beer Stations, our annual Beer Tasting Competition features 16 crafts and Oktoberfest brews!” adds King.
The Nashville Oktoberfest is spread out across 10 blocks adjacent to the Germantown neighborhood. The event caters to adults and kids of all ages. A giant Kids Zone area features children’s activities and is sponsored by Nashville Parent Magazine.
Another big draw is the live German music. There are three separate music stages at the event – each featuring German Volksmusik from famous Oktoberfest Polka bands.
More than 300,000 people are expected to attend and admission is FREE to the public. Visitors can purchase a VIP pass for the ultimate Oktoberfest experience. This year the VIP access areas are expanding with the VIP Lounge offering complimentary catered food and beer, access to the Beer Tastings with unlimited samples inside a two hour session, plus a commemorative 1 liter Nashville Oktoberfest Stein.
A special thanks to all of our Local Business Sponsors, without their support, this festival would not be possible! Please take a moment to check them out: Nashville Local Business Sponsors of Oktoberfest
